Charlee Bezilla
Charlee Bezilla is a scholar of eighteenth-century French literature and culture. She received her MA and PhD in Modern French Studies from the University of Maryland. Her research and teaching interests include eighteenth-century literature and culture, the history of science, ecocriticism and the environmental humanities, and animal studies as well as colonial and postcolonial Francophone literature and French language and culture courses. Her current book project examines hybridity in the works of late-eighteenth-century French writers and natural historians. She has presented her research at the conferences of the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies, the Modern Language Association, the Society for Literatures, Sciences and the Arts, the Northeast Modern Language Association, and the American Association of Teachers of French. From 2023–2026 she is serving as a delegate to the MLA Delegate Assembly for the Middle Atlantic region.
