Antonella Longoni was born and raised in Milan, Italy. She holds degrees in Classics and Political Science. She has taught courses in Italian language, culture, and literature in the United States since 1997, first at Dowling College, on Long Island, NY, and later at American University in Washington DC. 

Professor Longoni joined George Washington University in 2012. At GWU, she teaches Italian classes at various levels and is the coordinator of the Italian language program. 

Professor Longoni is also a faculty member of Casa Italiana Language School, in Washington, DC, where she has held regular evening classes since 2008. She has also taught Italian courses to US government officials, including a US Ambassador to Italy.   

In 2013, she was recognized by the Italian Embassy as an outstanding contributor to the advancement of the Italian language and culture in DC.
