Delia Valente received her Kandidat (PhD) degree in foreign languages from Moscow Linguistic University in 1987, completing her dissertation in general linguistics and communicative grammar. She has taught English as a foreign language in Moscow and Tashkent, Uzbekistan, English as a Second Language in the US, and Russian to American diplomats at the US Embassy in Uzbekistan. Delia was a Fulbright scholar at GWU during the 1994-1995 academic year. She is also a conference-level English-Russian/Russian-English interpreter and has interpreted for a number of senior US officials, including Secretary of State Madeline Albright.
